The historical archive Fototeca Storica Nazionale Ando Gilardi preserves more than 500.000 images, including photographs, photocollographs, lithographs, chromolithographs, Woodcuts, chalcographs, paintings, editorial documentation. The photographic originals are Black and white negatives or color slides. All images issued for editorial purposes or study, are supplied in digital form and sent via e-mail or for significant quantities and at the request, stored on CD-ROM or DVD.

The images organized for the fast finding are about 300.000 and among these 70.000 are listed by means of computers, more of 20.000 digitized and on-line. The remainder are available to a more depth search.


ELECTRONIC ARCHIVE

The consultation is available in three ways:

  • The FREE ENTRY is done by simply typing the Italian word entra in the login box. The free entry, for technical reasons, is permitted only for a limited number of users at the same time so it could happen to find the entrance committed. In this case, please wait a few minutes and repeat the access.

    The register as a GUEST USER is active with the single communication of its own data and Your E-mail address. The advantages offered by this registration are: Every week you receive your new password dedicated that includes three channels of access (for not finding never occupied) together with short tips for the consultation (tutorial flashes to know the archive) and information of the activities of Fototeca Gilardi; Furthermore are available for guests a series of folders containing examples of subjects developed in the database and a better display with a more discreet filigree.     The EXCLUSIVE USER with the signing of a Professional Agreement has a personalised access, the advantages of this registration are: login and password reserved in their choice; optional possibility to download the images directly from the site in high-resolution; entitlement to create their own picture folders; Availability of a telephone support on time 8:30 a.m. to 1: 00 p.m. hrs; 2:00 to 6:30 p.m. hrs from Monday to Friday to the request to specially upload of images not yet found on-line. The access is free but unless otherwise agreed, will be withdrawn in the case are not bought a minimum of six images to the year.

    Consultation
    The consultation is always on appointment, fixed by the phone, and leads to a prior search prepared by the search-office of the Fototeca Gilardi. From the material found, the customer can select images that deems the most suitable to their intended use. If you prefer you can make the selection of images even in its headquarters; in this case just with the copy and holders reimbursement, may be issued the low-res file with filigree or an inkjet printing with filigree. The cost of the research will be charged only in the event that the found images have selected to the outside at the customer and being no choice for publication. On the contrary is free of charge in case there are some images chosen for publication or, in any case, if the selection is done at our office.

    Reproduction fees
    All the images of Fototeca Gilardi are RM (right managed) therefore to use them it must pay the right of reproduction agreed in advance and cite the source by putting abbreviated credit "Fototeca Gilardi" into the reserved space on publication.
    Fototeca Storica Nazionale Ando Gilardi is able to provide drafting and technical support for the implementation of photographic exhibitions, projections, production of illustrated books on paper or multimedia; can run, on request, iconographic research theme or a whole work.
